Although little is known about its origins, we have heard of this church as the home of a community of Franciscan nuns in Late Middle-Ages. In the sixteenth century it was placed directly under the convent of Santa Clara until it was abandoned in the twentieth century. The similarities between the apses of the church of San Pedro de Ancorados and the central apse of the monastery of Acibeiro, suggest they were made in the same workshop and have similar chronologies: around 1170. From the Middle-Ages we still preserve part of the western façade and the apse, which has a pentagonal plant preceded by a straight section.
