The Castrovite settlement was occupied from the 8th century B.C. to the 1st century B.C. During the excavations, there were found 40 kg of cereals which were carbonised during three accidental fires in dierent centuries: millet, wheat, barley and oats.

The enormous symbolic and ritual importance the fort had for the locals was Christianised with the building of a chapel dedicated to Santa Mariña.
