The Callobre hill fort

The Callobre hill fort sits on a 266 m high elevation surrounded by two small valleys formed by the river Curantes and one of its tributaries. Taking advantage of the natural defences provided by the site, holes and parapets were built in the most accessible parts of the site, on top of which the walls were erected.

Part of these Iron Age structures are still visible today. The neighbours of Callobre recovered this space for the celebration of events and festivals such as the feast of Saint John. The council of A Estrada set up a short but beautiful hiking route up to the Fervenza (waterfall) of Callobre.
