The bucolic surroundings in which it takes place, the O Areal de Berres recreational and swimming area, attracts hundreds of people every year, who experience the magical eve of St. John’s Day eating sardines and octopus, jumping over the bonfire and enjoying live folk and rock music.
San Xoán de Castro in Callobre is an event on the rise. Celtic rites, music and tradition are mixed in this peculiar feast of Saint John in which the neighbours of Callobre parade with torches lit with fire brought from the most mythical mountain in Galicia: Pico Sacro. With them the bonfire is lit at the top of Castro, always to the sound of drums and music. In the feast there is plenty of popular music and great grilled sardines.
San Xoán da Praíña, in Couso, next to the river Ulla and the monumental Pontevea. Bar service, pulpo á feira (octopus served at the local fairs) and musical performances.
