Each of the 51 parishes comprising the municipality of A Estrada organises its own local festivities with a wide variety of entertainment and programmes: religious processions and services, traditional events, cuisine, folk festivals, classical orchestras, pop-rock and indie music, brass bands and of course, pre-lunch vermouth sessions accompanied by a plate of Galician-style octopus.
The “Xenerais da Ulla” is the most outstanding feature of the Ulla traditional Carnival. It has been held since the first half of the 19th century.
A Estrada’s san Xoan Festival, which is held in O Areal de Berres, is becoming more and more popular as one of the area’s most attractive eve of St. John’s Day festivals.
